Gram flour is a flour made from ground chana dal, a legume otherwise known as chickpeas. It is also known as besan (Hindi), kadala maavu (Tamil, Malayalam), "Senaga Pindi" (Telugu), kadale hittu (Kannada). The flour is commonly called as “Besan†and is available in fine powder. The flour is used in the preparation of many dishes and adds an extra flavor to the dish so prepared.
